Resonate Sign the "Dying to Work" Voluntary Charter

At a Parliamentary reception in London last week, Resonate signed up to the Dying to Work Voluntary Charter aimed at helping employees who become terminally ill at work.

The Charter is part of the TUC’s wider Dying to Work campaign - backed by Pauline Latham MP - which is seeking greater security for terminally ill workers where they cannot be dismissed as a result of their condition. Dying to Work was conceived following the case of Jacci Woodcock, an area sales manager from Derbyshire who was forced out of her job after being diagnosed with terminal breast cancer, and employers are encouraged by the TUC to sign up to its voluntary charter to stop cases like Jacci’s happening in the future.

Lee Barron, TUC Midlands, Regional Secretary said: “Your job should be the least of your worries when you get a terminal diagnosis. I’m delighted that Resonate have shown real leadership in this area, working with unions to guarantee fair treatment for terminally-ill workers.”

Adrian Barwell, who signed on behalf of Resonate said: “The Dying to Work Charter sets out good employment principles and practices to help support employees at an extremely traumatic time in their lives. As a company we have always endeavoured to work with our people to provide the support and choices that works for them when faced with a terminal illness. Signing the Charter reinforces that commitment.”

Nigel Harrison, Chairman of the Resonate branch of the TSSA said: “I welcome the commitment of the company to the Charter, as a reassurance to our staff, should they have to face this challenging time.”
